Colours are more densly saturated into the fibres, the fibres are longer (worsted) which makes for a smoother look, the ply are in many multiples creating a much more rounded yarn and as such a higher definition to the stitch.
Colours tend to be the most upto date with fashions and beause of this tend to be out before you will see them appear in clothing, upholstery and furnishing stores so you can have your pattern knitted up in time for the seasonal changeovers.

Remember the news article just before the 2008 Olympics began in China in which the army was called in to clear out vast carpets of thick algae? Well that algae was there because there were no bugs to eat the stuff. And there were no bugs because chemical fertilisers and pesticides used in the fields had washed through into the rivers.
So why an organic cotton?
Because 25% of all these chemicals used is used for cotton production.

So Sirdar faced the nigh impossible task of using an organic cotton. The problem being that to really make it organic you have to use gentle dyes and mordants and cotton requires heavier man made ingredients in order to take on strong colour.

And yet the results as you can see are beautiful, soft and warm and creamy colours.

The cotton is multi ply for a defined stitch and brushed for a soft and kind feel.

Sublime Extra-fine Merino
With merino from Italy and actually leaving the make-up of this yarn to the Italian experts, Sirdars Sublime is so fine and so scrumptiously rich in its colour penetration.

An example of the colour penetration is immediately apparent when you see the black. All other blacks just look like dull second bests.

The ply is in many multiples again and gives you that clear definition, that clean look if you like, and has amazing reflective qualities that just makes any garment knit in it stand out as just a wee bit more special.
