Chunky Yarns

Click from Sirdar

I don't display too many patterns on the web pages because I just have too many. But I thought I'd take this opportunity just to give you a little taster.

These are all chunky patterns knit generally between 6mm to 8mm needles

You will see a mixture of Sirdars Click and Peru chunky patterns here.

Like I said, these are just a handful out of one folder dedicated to chunky knits, and I have four folders.

In comparison to one folder for Aran I think this demonstrates the popularity of Chunky. Why? I think because its not just about quickness or the diversity of textures and colours but because these days chunky yarns do not have the old association with being heavy to wear, or the look of being bulky on the body.

And the designs today are right up to date with high street fashions. Incidentally a lady came in today (21 Jan 2009) wearing the bottom right garment she had just knitted. Believe me it looked absolutely stunning.

There is as much time spent on chunkies (or 12ply to 18ply) when it comes to their creation and pattern support as there is to Britains most popular weight of yarn - the doubleknit.

So here we see Click

We have come across it many times before in doubleknit and aran. It wears well, it wares well, and it washes well. Colours tend to be soft and muted.

Other colours are either flecked or marls whereby three or more colours are used in which each strand used in the yarns construction is different and then all three plied together.

Other marls are where each strand used is in itself constructed out of different colours. Thes marls give greater diversity to any garment knitted, allowing say a top to match with numerous other colour clothes.

Click Chunky from Sirdar is a wonderful yarn but why not make your own. Make your own solid variation or even your own marl by using two strands of doubleknit. And remember we do Click doubleknit. In this way your garment will be totally unique.
